I'd
love a story based on the John Michael Montgomery song
The Little Girl. I think it would work great for an EE
story. At first I couldn't listen to this song without
crying For those who don't know the song it's about a
little girl, whose parents doing and use drugs.
Eventually the father ends up shooting the mother then
killing himself. The city sends the girl to live with a
new family. The last verse of the song is: "The
first day of Sunday School the teacher walks in, a small
little girl stares at a picture of him. She says I know
that man up there on the cross. I don't know his name but
I know he got off. Because he was there in my old house
and held me close by his side as I hid there behind our
couch the night that my parents died."
****************************************** Imagine Gary trying to stop the killings but getting there just in time to hear the gun shots and a child scream. He watches children services take the little girl away. During the next week the look on the girl's face haunts Gary. He tries to find out if the girl needs anything. But children services makes it hard for him to find out where the child has gone. Then a 'chance' minor rescues at a church let's him find out about what happened to the little girl. That's she's better off now then with her 'real' parents. Gary leaves remembering there is someone watching over everything besides him. :D |

I would love to see an episode where Gary finds out what life would be like if he was never born (a la It's a Wonderful Life). I picture him finding Bernie & Lois married to different people, Marissa still working as receptionist at the brokerage, and never getting her dog. I'm not sure where Chuck would be without Gary, but I have a feeling he would always land on his feet. Anyway, Gary would get to see how important he is and how many lives he has touched. Then, of course, in the end things would return to normal, leaving Gary with a new appreciation for his life and the paper. |

Yet another fanfic idea - Gary gets the newspaper, as always, and reads about two teens that will drown if he doesn't save them. In the mean time, Gary's true love gets a newspaper saying Gary will die if he rescues the two kids. Gary runs off to rescue the kids, the girl (I have picked a name, but am keeping it a secret for right now) goes after Gary. True to form, Gary rescues the kids, but makes the mistake of jumping in the water to save the kids. Between the cold water and the kids pulling at him, Gary slides under the water. The girl, with the help of the two kids, pulls Gary out of the water. |

Shana- That is so weird that you mentioned that idea. I saw a commercial the other day for a Nicholas Cage movie that seems to be about a guy finding out what his life would have been like if it had taken a different path, and it gave me the idea for a story where Gary would find out what his life would have been like if he had never gotten the paper. |

LOL Karen, Great minds think alike. I haven't seen ads for that movie, but maybe while I was half asleep in front of the tv one came on and seeped into my subconscious, because for about 3 nights in a row I kept thinking of that episode idea. :) :) |

Shana, I thought about a Wonderful Life story too. Great minds think alike. LOL. The Nicholes Cage movie looks similar to the one Jim Beulishi did years ago. |

There is a story being written with the EE fan fic archive that is similar to the story line discussed here. It starts out when Snow comes to Gary in the Carpet store when he tells him it is a lousy day to die. He takes Gary through the past and future to show him what a difference he has made in lives already an how he will make a difference in the future. It is very well written. There are some very funny moments and some heartbreaking ones. We get to see how Chuck and Gary met see Gary as a child of about 6. so far she has only gotten through 7 chapters. When she is done and it is posted to the archives I will post here so you can read it. It is a very interesting story. |
