Jan 25, 1998: "Parade" section of Sunday newspaper:

Q: I hear Fisher Stevens, who plays sarcastic Chuck Fishman on TV's "Early Edition," has a theater company in New York. Can I see him in anything? - Denise K, Stamford, Conn.

A: Afraid not. Thought he's a founding member of the off-off-Broadway Naked Angels theater group, Stevens, 34, devotes all his time nowadays to movies and TV. His GreeneStreet Films company will release "Illuminata" this spring, with Susan Surandon and John Turturro, who also directed. Stevens, whose three-year relationship with Michelle Pfeiffer ended in 1992, recently ended a three-year romance with a book editor.

One Olympic casualty you didn't hear about: Kyle Chandler, star of CBS's "Early Edition," came down with chicken pox just before returning from Japan, forcing a three-day filming delay of his show (which returns to the air April 4). That was just fine by costar Fisher Stevens, who was set to direct his first episode of the series when the star called in sick. "Kyle told me he did it as a favor for me to give me extra time to prepare," says Stevens. "It was scary, though. If he had been sick for a week, I would have lost all my guest stars."
