I have been watching my WAK tape over and over again and it's been cracking me up. I think that Sex Talk was a very, very funny episode! It's been a long time since a tv sitcom has made me laugh this hard. Actually, it's been a long time since a tv sitcom has made me laugh! :D How many of you are watching your tape over and over again like me and if you are how would you rate this episode. On a scale of one to ten, what would you give this episode? I would give it a 9. :O Pretty high isn't it. Hope they can top it! There were so many funny parts to this episode, but when I see Joan stamping her foot to answer yes, I lose it everytime! :D |
| darbyross 04/06/01 |
Me too Candi. Last weeks ep was too funny. I laughed during the first one but not as much as I did the next one. When he asks how was it that little smile, almost like he's really embarrassed to ask is just so funny. Plus the come 'ere was just too much. I was showing the girls at work the screen capture and I about lost it right in front of them. LOL And I won't say how many times I've watched the ep, but it's more than twice. ;) |
| Candii 04/06/01 |
Dollene, I can't say exactly how many times I've watched both episodes but lets just say that it's the first thing I put on when I come home from work and I watch them over and over again! LOL!! And the part when they are in bed and Joan is upset because he said that he loved her, she turns off the lights and then turns it back on and says "Whats the matter, I'm not wild enough?" And she is standing there all bundled up in her robe and even has the robe tied at the neck!! LOL!! So funny! :D I am laughing right now even as I type this! :D The look on her face is sooo funny!! Talk about being modest!! Joan is a real nut! :D |
| darbyross 04/07/01 |
LOL I watched it again last night and will be watching it again this morning. (A lady at work missed it because of a family emergency and I promised I'd bring it so we could watch it) HONEST!!! LOL I just love the part where she says she's discussed things this week that usually make her say "Whaka, whaka!" I really laughed so hard during this ep. When Jake kept getting up while she was going on about religion I kept laughing at him and I think she was supposed to get the laughs but it was just so funny what he was doing and I don't know why. I love the part where he gets mad ( Have I said how much I like to see him really argue with a woman instead of be brow beat like he was with Erica?) Oh well for another board. Where was I ? Oh yeah, he gets mad and leaves and she calls after him and he comes back and she thinks it's so wonderful that he didn't make her say "jake, please don't go, oh god how can i live without you " or something to that effect. LOL I hope next weeks is as funny. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for a pick up for the show so I can go see a taping. :) |
| Candii 04/07/01 |
Dollene, it's so funny because thats one of the parts that crack me up too!! I'm looking at him all the while Joan is going on and on and his expression is soooo funny when he eases up to go get the wine bottle and then sits back down and then he sneaks up again to get her wine glass. LOL!! I am so happy that we are able to see these wonderful expressions again. :) The part where he ruffles her hair when they settle down to watch the civil war, and he's all into the program, his expression is sooo adorable and I feel sorry for him because doesn't even have a clue that Joan is about to stir up trouble. All he wanted to do was relax with the woman he loves! :D I love it!! :D Oh and I have always said that I loved seeing Gary, (in this case Jake )argue with a woman too! LOL!! He is sexy when he's vulnerable!! At the end when the grabs joan and says that the dancer anthropoligist (spelled wrong ) was not funny, I swoon! ~sigh~ he has a way of holding a woman behind the neck that drives me insane!!!! :D |
| TobMar 04/07/01 |
I love the part where he is in bed and they are discussing Kyle's best sexual partner. He thinks he is finally off the hook and then Joan says 'but not smart enough to lie', he gives up and flops back down on his pillow. Kyle's expressions are priceless! |
| darbyross 04/07/01 |
//he has a way of
holding a woman behind the neck that drives me insane!!!!
// I love that. One of his fans affectionately named that the 'cradle'and I think that is the perfect description of what he does. He just cradles the back of the head or neck. :) I loved it when she said "help me be hot. And I can help you." And he says "what? what do you mean by that?" I was like. "He needs no help being hot! He does fine all on his own!" LOL There is no one hotter in my opinion. And I agree with all your insights into how he looks that you posted on the EE forum. He is one fine looking man. I am so grateful he decided to act so we can enjoy looking at him plus all the fun that we have watching his wonderful talent as an actor. :) |
| chuck-n-gary 04/07/01 |
//I am so
grateful that he decided to act so we can enjoy looking
at him plus all the fun that we have watching his
wonderful talent as an actor.// My goodness, you said that so perfectly!!! Nice job, dollene! :) |
| darbyross 04/08/01 |
LOL, thanks! He is such a treat to look at even if he didn't do anything, but it is such an added plus that he is so good at what he does. I know everyone doesn't get that, but it's just their loss. I think Kyle is extremely talented and very versatile. Although I do prefer him to play the nice guy. And did anyone notice that Jake helped Joan clean up after dinner. This guy is too good to be true. LOL! |
| shana93 04/09/01 |
I've only seen
last week's ep once, cause I've been so busy making EE
tapes, but reading all these comments has motivated me to
get my tape out tonight and watch it again. Btw, I thought I read somewhere a while ago that Jake was gonna be a lawyer on the show. Then when he turned out to be an investment banker, I figured my imagination was working overtime again. Well, I read the synopsis of "Quid Pro Quo" (which may or may not air tomorrow night) and it says that Jake passed the bar and can also practice law. I guess I wasn't completely out in left field after all. :D Thanks Linda, for the ep guide, btw. :) |
| darbyross 04/10/01 |
Candi~ Do you have your vcr ready? It's less than 12 hours my time till tonights ep. I used to hate Tuesdays. LOL I'm off on Mondays so Tuesday is my first day back to work from the weekend. Now I can't wait. Except I have to get through a full day at work first. :( |
| Candii 04/10/01 |
Tape is ready and waiting! LOL!!
I am off on Sundays and Mondays and now I can't wait
until Tuesdays! I have my tape to watch up until then.
I've watched both episodes so much that some parts I can
recite word for word! I love the part where Joan rants
about stuff she hates talking about "...stuff that makes me go waka, waka, waka, all because I want us to be that good! So don't treat me like Lucy Ricardo the zany house wife! I mean don't pat me on the head and think it ridiculous that I want to stray away from some notion you have of me as the girl you snack on the couch with as a substitute for passion! LOL!! Sad isn't it Dollene! LOL!! Anyway, I hope tonights episode is as good as the last one, I can't wait to see Crumb as Jakes dad. They should feel very comfortable acting with each other and I know that there will be some chemistry there. |
| darbyross 04/10/01 |
Oh Candi~ You're in bad shape . LOL Please tell me that quote wasn't all from memory. :O I don't what is worse , that you can quote it from memory or that I knew it was correct. Do you think they have a WAK anonymous? Maybe we should be cofounders. :) |
| Candii 04/10/01 |
LOL!! Dollene, I'm afraid it's from memory! Am I pathetic or what? I think the abbreviation says it all! Even before the show aired we were WAK'ers! LOL!! Hey! :O WAK Anonymous-WAKA! Now this is starting to get creepy! ;) |
| abc981 04/10/01 |
Shana - you're welcome. Looks like they're gonna keep us guessing as to which episode we'll see when. |
| karens608 04/10/01 |
I know what you mean about keeping us guessing. Just last night, I saw a commercial with Crumb, but next week's TV Guide lists the Crumb episode and says "postponed from an earlier date". |
| abc981 04/10/01 |
The ABC site
seems to indicate that The Proposal will be on tonight
but they're still showing those "Crumb"
commercials! It doesn't really matter to me, I'll watch
it no matter what but I know there are a lot of EE fans
looking forward to seeing Ron Dean again. Guess they'll
just have to tune in and see what's on. :) Dollene, what makes you think I'm excited too? Just because that's all I've been able to think about all day? ;) Except we did have a little conversation here at work about Spongebob today. I still have the song running through my head. LOL |
| abc981 04/10/01 |
I forgot to mention I saw a little promo during Good Morning America this morning. It said Dharma & Greg is on B.C. (before Cusack) and WAJ is on A.D. (after Dharma). (Somebody got paid to think that up.) :) There was a little clip of Joan taking Jake's picture with his parents. I have a feeling the family picture was Joan's idea. LOL |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
Candi, you crack me up with your WAK-anonymous, WAKA remark. Now I have 'waka waka waka' going through my head. :D I'm really looking forward to tonight's ep (whichever that may be). And then to turn the channel right after and see EE. Tuesday is my new favorite day. ;) |
| darbyross 04/10/01 |
Linda I think you're a little excited because you started emailing me two days ago that it's only two days till WAK!! LOL My webtv program guide says tonights ep is the proposal. Tv guide didn't list anything for this week. Next week mine says it's the Quid pro quo? Is that the right title? Hmm, Erica is on after WAK do I watch WAK again and go to sleep on a peaceful note or do I watch Collision and get so mad I want to pick up my tv and hurl it across the room? Decisions, decisions :0) |
| Candii 04/10/01 |
Shana, I have been smiling all day! :) I suppose Tuesday is now my favorite day! I been walking around thinking 'waka waka' too! :D Think we need help? ;) I think a shot of Gary/Jake is all the help that I need. :D |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
Candi, after no EE since Fri, I'm definitely in need of a shot of Gary/Jake. These withdrawals are too much to bear. The only cure for this addiction is more KC. ;) |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
At the end of Who
Wants to...., the announcer gave a little blurb about
tonight's ep of WAK that indicates it will be "The
Proposal". I can't wait. I did see another ad with Ron Dean that I hadn't seen before where Joan is taking a picture of Jake and his parents. It was pretty funny. |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
OMG He's wearing shorts and his hair is all mussed. I'm in hormonal overload here. HELP!!!! |
| chuck-n-gary 04/10/01 |
Oooh, we're like
not even three minutes in and there's Kyle in shorts with
mussed hair!!! That's so funny shana, we said the same thing!!! :) |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
And when he said he was going to take a shower, I said "ME TOO" at the same time as Joan. :D |
| chuck-n-gary 04/10/01 |
Man, was anyone else disappointed with the ending of this one? |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
Chuck-n-Gary, I
was still waiting for another scene when the credits
started rolling. I was like "huh? that's it?" I can't figure out why Betsy loves Mark. There's just no accounting for taste (and judging by her wardrobe, she doesn't have any). |
| darbyross 04/10/01 |
ROTFLMAO Shana!!! Her clothes are terrible. I laughed so hard when Joan popped Mark on the head with her kleenex box. He so deserved it. He's such a jerk. Why anyone would want him. But the scene at the beginning when Jake is dishing with the girls was so HOT!!!!!! I needed a cold shower after that scene. When he leaned over to Joan and was talking about moves he would use on her. OH MY LORD!!!!!! This was something we never got to see Gary do. Flirt and I love it . He does it so very well. I told Shana in an email, but did anyone else notice he was wearing those tight leg boxers under his shorts? hoowee. I couldn't help it. He had static cling and you could see the leg of them. ;) |
| chuck-n-gary 04/10/01 |
LOL, Dollene!! I hadn't noticed any "tight leg boxers" but now I have to go back and look!! :) I wish they would add a little more to the episode while they rolled the credits. Even a preview of the next week's episode would work better than nothing. Or maybe just some pictures of Kyle flashing on the screen. We could all deal with that, right? ;) |
| darbyross 04/10/01 |
Yes, Please check so I know it's not my overactive imagination. LOL And yes pictures of Kyle during the closing credits would be nice. Or some little final scene like they do on Dharma and Greg. Something. All the eps just kind of end abruptly. |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
That's a very good idea, Chuck-n-Gary. Shots of Kyle in those shorts to end each ep, or Kyle in the shower, or Kyle lying in bed shirtless, or Kyle.....well, y'all get the idea. ;) |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
I'm on my second viewing and I did notice the little shorts, Dollene. ;) I don't know how all those women could work with him and maintain their composure. He's so darn fine. I love when he and Joan are getting all mushy on the couch. And I love the way she jumps when he says "SNAP". I'm officially hooked on this show. :D |
| Candii 04/10/01 |
I haven't seen this episode yet and I am so curious I could scream!! It sounds like it was a good one, and yes, they do tend to end the episodes abruptly. We should write in right away and voice our concerns about this matter!! :D So, how was Crumb? I have to wait another whole hour!! :) |
| shana93 04/10/01 |
Candi, this wasn't the ep with Ron Dean. But it was very funny. You'll love the beginning with Jake. I got very warm, so maybe you better get a fan ready. :D |
| stephaniearwen 04/10/01 |
Hi, I finally got a clue and moseyed on over here. :) OMG, I thought I was going to have a heart attack right there on my floor in the beginning of tonight's ep!!! :D My brother watched it too, and he was like, "It wasn't that hot. Geez, I don't understand you women..." ROTFL! No, he doesn't... :D |
| abc981 04/10/01 |
Glad you found us
over here, Stephanie. :) As much as I loved the c'mere and the hug from last week, I think this might be my favorite so far. I'll probably say that every week! Even though Mark is a complete jerk, it was so nice to see Betsy stand up to him tonight and make a (somewhat) honest man out of him. Especially since she followed that wonderful advice Jake gave her. /sigh/ I think this ep was a great choice to show at this point in the series. The supporting characters were more involved, Joan was great, Kyle was great...I'll leave it at that. |
| Candii 04/11/01 |
Shana, now I know what you meant
about getting that fan ready. :O This guy just seems to
ooze sex appeal! :D I think he has the prettiest legs on
a guy that I have ever seen! And the way he looked in
that suit!! OMG!! GQ!! I am going to have to go back and
view my tape because I really didn't hear anything that
was said because my mouth had dropped opened and the
dialogue just seemed to fade in the background. :O I
honestly don't see how the woman on the set can stand
working with him without falling all to pieces! :O
Someone else on the board said the same thing. Does anyone else get the feeling that some how we are being cheated! The show seemed to end a whole five or more minutes earlier than a normal show usually does! Is that the norm for the sitcoms these days? It's not fair! |
| karens608 04/11/01 |
Dollene, I didn't notice the boxers under the shorts(and I've already watched that scene three times), so I guess I'll just have to watch it again.(Tough duty!) I agree with the comment about how can the women on the set stand working with him without falling all to pieces, but I was also wondering about the women in the audience. I mean, when Kyle walked in in those shorts, I definitely expected reaction from the audience, but there wasn't any. (What, are they nuts? ) I've been noticing when I've finished recording the episodes that I've only used up 21 and a half minutes of tape space(I edit out the commercials)and that does seem awfully short especially since that includes the closing credits. |
| shana93 04/11/01 |
So Candi, did you have your fan ready when the ep came on? I have watched that scene with Jake about a dozen times already. Whew--I'm in heaven. At one point, I realized my eyes were following his hands. I agree with whoever said he's got beautiful legs, but his hands drive me wild too. Ok, I know, I know, what doesn't drive me wild about him, right? :D |
| reaness 04/11/01 |
I love this esipose too. Oh my gosh dose sexy legs. :D I about die when he walk into the room. I thought it was so sweet of Jake to help out Betsy even though I agree with you. but, like she said ,She know Mark love her, and yes the way he talks and move his hands was so fine. :D I also felt so sorry for Joan in this one. Iwas so glad that the student were sorry for what they did and Joan was able to take their apology. Yes this was one good esposide. |
| chuck-n-gary 04/11/01 |
I watched the
whole episode again and I can't see the boxer shorts,
dollene. What was he saying when you saw them. I Must
Know!! :) Oh, and did you all notice he has the V back in his hair? |
| shana93 04/11/01 |
Chuck-n-Gary,
when Jake says "listen closely" and he walks
toward Betsy, you can see the outline of his long tight
boxers underneath his shorts. I did notice the v is back
and I flipped out. I was so happy. I love that little v. I just about die when he says to Joan, "that's my move, no move". The look on his face could melt the iceberg that sank the Titanic. |
| chuck-n-gary 04/11/01 |
Thanks, Shana. I'm going to watch the episode again and look even closer than I already do. :) (And I also love that "move" line!!) |
| Candii 04/11/01 |
//....but I was
also wondering about the women in the audience. I mean,
when Kyle walked in in those shorts, I definitely
expected reaction from the audience, but there wasn't any.
(What, are they? nuts? )// I was wondering
the same thing too. When Jake stepped in the door, you
could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. Where were the
wolf calls or the whoops or whistles? Even a hubba hubba
would have been nice to hear from at least one awe struck
female fan, but there was nothing. :( |
| Candii 04/11/01 |
Oh...and ladies, one more thing. About the V? Well since I am the keep of the V, ;) I decided that Jake should grow it, a little gift from me to all of you. :D |
| shana93 04/11/01 |
Candi, you're
keeper of the v? I'm so jealous. ;) But thank you for
sharing it with all of us and having Jake grow it back. ;) I think I've already just about worn my tape out from watching Jake's speech so many times. Oh baby!! I'm glad Joan made that little remark about his legs---"nice gams"! Oh yeah, those legs, those hands, that v, that neck and jawline......I think I'd better go take a cold shower. Too bad Jake can't join me. :D |
| stephaniearwen 04/11/01 |
I suppose asking
the question, "Who wanted to get in the shower with
Jake?" is like asking the question, "Who wants
to be under Gary's tree?" or "Gary needed a
sponge bath- any volunteers?" As (I believe) Dollene
said about the sponge bath, that would probably be "the
biggest cat fight in the world." ;) Yes, where are the cat calls and cheering? You hear it on other shows all the time. Do you suppose they'll kick us out if we cheer? Maybe we should bring signs instead. |
| earlydues 04/11/01 |
I imagine that it's hard to cat-call when your breath has just been taken away. ;) |
| stephaniearwen 04/11/01 |
LOL, I never thought of it that way, earlydues! Good point! :D |
| Candii 04/12/01 |
~Sigh~ You could have a point there earlydues, I mean I literally couldn't say a word! But then again, I didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of my family either. :D |
| karens608 04/12/01 |
I loved that
"move" line, too, especially the look on his
face! /sigh/ I have to admit, I thought it was strange when I noticed that the v was missing, because I heard that his wife loves it. I mean, what man in his right mind would change something about his appearance that his wife loves? |
| darbyross 04/12/01 |
//I imagine that
it's hard to cat-call when your breath has just been
taken away. // Early Dues, are you admitting that is what happened to you? ;) Honestly all I could do was let out an 'oof' when he walked in and the rest of the time I know I had this big, silly grin on my face. :) |
| springfever 04/12/01 |
I don't like how the shows end. I keep expecting a little closing scene after they go to commercial break and then it comes back for the credits. Even my husband said after the show the other night- "that's it?" I'm having a hard time liking Mark&Betsy- he's too wishy-washy for me and it drives me crazy how she's defends his behavior. I'll probably get stoned for this comment, but they kind of get on my nerves. Just give me more of Kyle. |
| shana93 04/12/01 |
Karen, I'm
wondering if Kyle's barber slipped up and accidently
hacked the v... :O Like you, I can't imagine he'd get rid
of it on purpose if his wife loved it. I'm so glad it's
back. :D Springfever, I think a lot of us agree that Mark and Betsy are annoying. I'll take more Kyle scenes any day over those two. Of course, I'd take more Kyle over anyone else for that matter. :D |
| karens608 04/12/01 |
I'm one of those who would agree that Mark and Betsy are annoying. I do think that the idea of two teachers having an affair that they're trying to keep secret from their co-workers could be funny, but who would believe that anyone in her right mind would be attracted to Mark? |
| Newf65 04/12/01 |
Who says Betsy's in her right mind? Have you seen her wardrobe? The girl's got a quirky mind. |
| darbyross 04/12/01 |
Betsy & Mark drive me nuts too. I hope they get married , it ruins their careers and they have to move away. Does that sound too harsh? LOL They really aren't that funny IMO. I really like the black girl. I can't think of her character name. But she is really funny. I hope they play up her role more, but don't cut out any of Jake and Joan. :) And you're right Monica. Betsy's wardrobe is horrendous. :O |
| abc981 04/12/01 |
I thought Mark
& Betsy were annoying in the first two episodes. He
is a complete jerk but I enjoyed watching Betsy carry out
Jake's plan to such perfection. It made me respect her a
little bit more (in spite of her clothes) ;)and it was
all the more special because of who her teacher was. :) It will be interesting to see how their relationship plays out since this ep (The Proposal) was sort of shown out of order. I thought it was so cute when Jake got a little excited when he heard that the girls were talking about marriage until they said Betsy & Mark. He was hoping they meant him and Joan. Gotta love him. :) |
| karens608 04/12/01 |
Yeah, I actually
liked that scene between Mark and Betsy, too. The fact
that she was able to get "man-chicken" to
actually get down on his knees and beg her to marry him
was pretty funny. :) I also liked the scene with Jake you mentioned. I especially liked how he said "Oh" when he found out they were talking about Mark & Betsy. ;) |
| chuck-n-gary 04/12/01 |
Well, I think I finally saw the boxers after watching that part for the hundredth time (not that I minded rewatching it). Dollene, you must have a hawk's eye and a devilish mind :) I never would have spotted them on my own! |
| darbyross 04/12/01 |
LOL, it's probably the devilish mind, cause my contacts aren't working too great lately. LOL. Actually I was just giving him the once over. Starting at the top of his head and was working my way down when I noticed them. ;) |
