Ok, on the EE forum there is a "Gary Songs" topic, so I thought I would open one for "Jake Songs." I know it's much too early in the game, but I thought I'd ask you just the same....
Any songs out there that bring Jake to mind?
I have the "Pure Jazz" CD, and honestly, I think the first cut on it would be a fabulous theme for Jake and Joan. It's a happy, upbeat tune called "My Baby Just Cares For Me":

My Baby just Cares for Me (Gus Kahn, Walter Donaldson)
My baby don't care for shows
My baby don't care for clothes
My baby just cares for me
My baby don't care for cars and races
My baby don't care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Lana Turner's smile
Is somethin' he can't see
My baby don't care who knows
My baby just cares for me

Baby, my baby don't care for shows
And he don't even care for clothes
He cares for me
My baby don't care
For cars and races
My baby don't care for
He don't care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Liberace's smile
Is something he can't see
Is something he can't see
I wonder what's wrong with baby
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for
My baby just cares for me

Original lyric

My baby don't care for shows
My baby don't care for clothes
My baby just cares for me
My baby don't care for cars and races
My baby don't care for high-tone places

Liz Taylor is not his style
And even Lana Turner's smile
is somethin' he can't see

My baby don't care who knows it
My baby just cares for me

My baby don't care for shows
And he don't even care for clothes
My baby just cares for me

My baby don't care for cars and races
My baby don't care for
he don't care for high-tone places

I wonder what's wrong with baby
My baby just cares for
Just says his prayers for
My baby just cares for me

Alternatve version:

My baby don't care for shows, my baby don't care for clothes
My baby just cares for me!
My baby don't care for, cars and races,
My baby don't care for, high tall places.
Sharon Stone is not his style, and even Cindy Crawford's smile
Is somethin' he can't see.
My baby don't care who knows it,
My baby just cares for me.
My baby dont' care for shows, and he don't even care for clothes,
My baby just cares for me.
My baby don't care for, cars and races,
My baby don't care for, he dont' care for high tall places
Sharon Stone is not his style, and even Cindy Crawford's smile
Is somethin' he can't see,
Is somethign he can't see
I wonder what's wrong with baby!
My baby just cares for,
he just says his prayers for
My baby just cares for me!

I don't know why, but I've been immersed in old tunes lately. HMMMM, could be all of that Homefront I've been watching!

The only one that comes to mind right now is that old Exile song. I want to kiss you all over. ;)

I was just thinking of that Billy Joel song, "She's got a way" (I think that's what it's called). I think it kinda fits with how Jake feels about Joan......

She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her...

I can't remember how the rest of it goes right now, so those three lines just keep running through my head over and over.

Argh. You just had to do that with the Billy Joel song! It's gonna stick in my head forever!

I can't help but think of the songs from the commercials. "There She Goes" and even better, "Ain't No Ordinary Love." Aww. :)

I was originally going to say Here, There and Everywhere (mostly because I love the Beatles) but I heard another song yesterday which made me think of Jake. It's called Head Over Feet (some of you probably know it.)

I had no choice but to hear you / You stated your case time and again/
I thought about it

You treat me like I'm a princess / I'm not used to liking that /
You ask how my day was

(Chorus)
You've already won me over in spite of me / Don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet / Don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are / I couldn't help it / It's all your fault

Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole / You're so much braver than I give you credit for / That's not lip service...(Chorus)

You are the bearer of unconditional things / You held your breath and the door for me / Thanks for your patience

You're the best listener that I've ever met / You're my best friend, Best friend with benefits / What took me so long

I've never felt this healthy before / I've never wanted something rational / I am aware now / I am aware now...(Chorus)
